Why should we extend our support to the Priests Retirement Fund?
Our clergy members have devoted their lives to selflessly serve our community. Through life’s significant moments, from birth to death, they have been a source of God’s love and compassion. They’ve baptized, taught, and preached the Gospel, guiding our parish communities with unwavering dedication. In times of joy and sorrow, they’ve played vital roles, witnessing weddings, comforting during illness, and officiating funerals.
As these men of God enter their retirement years, they now require and merit our assistance. The upcoming Luncheon, along with the associated collection on the weekend of Sept. 23-24, aims to contribute towards the renovation and repair of the Serra Clergy House in San Mateo. This facility, where several retired Priests, including Fr. Anthony McGuire, reside, was initially constructed in 1954 as part of Serra High School for the school’s priest faculty. In the early 1990s, it was repurposed to house active, independent retired priests, with only minimal repairs conducted since then.

Approaching its 70th year, the Serra Clergy House faces critical needs that demand attention. Original elements such as the roof, windows, and electric panels must be replaced. Essential upgrades, including seismic enhancements, an alarm system, a new irrigation system, insulation for the windows, and the installation of solar panels, are imperative. Your generous contributions will ensure that these men of God, who have been steadfast companions throughout our lives, receive the support they need in their well-deserved retirement years.
